Abstract:Objective To understand the status and influencing factors of ADL among the elderly in Ya'an five years after the Lushan earthquake, and provide evidence for the intervention measures to prevent and delay ADL damage in the elderly.Methods The nonprobability sampling method was adopted to select 790 elderly people over 60 years old in Ya 'an urban area in March 2019. General demographic data and healthrelated information were collected by using general health information questionnaire for elderly people and Barthel scale. Results 790 questionnaires were issued. 783 valid questionnaires were recovered (99.11%), and 180 cases (33.0%) of ADL were damaged. Univariate analysis of variance showed that age, disease status, occupation, source of living expenses,if full of energy, happiness and enrichment were the influencing factors of ADL impairment in the elderly P<0.05). Using binary logistic regression analysis showed that low age, occupation is farmer, good health not associated with chronic illnesses, source of living expenses (past savings, pensions, basic living allowances), full of energy, and feel happy, fulfilling were protect factors. The sources of living expenses are dependent on relatives, unhappiness and unfulfilled feeling were risk factors.Conclusion Due to the comprehensive influence of physical, psychological, socio-economic level and earthquake and other catastrophic events, the damage rate of ADL among the elderly in Ya'an City is relatively high, which should be paid attention to. Comprehensive intervention measures including physical and mental health intervention should be formulated to improve the ADL of the elderly in disaster areas, so as to improve the quality of life of the elderly.
