Abstract:Suitable iodine nutrition status is important for keeping normal thyroid function and metabolism, specially for pregnant women. Iodine nutrition status of the pregnant women affects the thyroid function and various system functions of pregnant women and their offspring. Both iodine deficiency and iodine excess can bring adverse effects on pregnant women and their offspring. Although there are some indicators that are research highlights for evaluating iodine nutrition status, for exampleurinary iodine, goitre, Tg, SI, TSH and IFFQ,but those all have some limitations. More study for iodine nutrition status of pregnant women is need. Different intervention measures are essential for the different areas.
