Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of low temperature plasma radiofrequency on allergic rhinitis with deviation of nasal septum. Methods From March 2015 to December 2017, 112 patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) with deviation of nasal septum were treated and followed up in Sichuan Bayi Rehabilitation Center. The patients were divided into low temperature plasma group (group L, 63 cases) and control group ( group C, 49 cases) using a random number table method and dynamic random grouping. Group L was treated with lowtemperature plasma radiofrequency under nasal endoscopy, while group C was treated with routine surgery. The patients were followed up 6 months and 12 months after operation. The subjective symptoms scores, PQLQ scores, the number of recurrences and complications were recorded before and 6 and 12 months after operation, and the curative effect were evaluated. Nasal mucociliary clearance time and nasal resistance were measured before and 6 months after operation.Results Compared with group C, the scores of subjective symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal obstruction and nasal itching and PQLQ scores in group L was decreased at 12 months after operation (P<0.05). Compared with those before operation, the scores of subjective symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal obstruction and nasal itching and PQLQ scores in group L was decreased at 6 and 12 months after operation (P<0.01 or <0.05). The recurrence rate and complications at 12 months after operation in group L was significantly lower than that in group C (P<0.01). Compared with group C, nasal mucociliary clearance time was shortened and nasal resistance was decreased in group L at 6 months after operation (P<0.05 or<0.01). Compared with preoperation, nasal mucociliary clearance time was shortened and nasal resistance was decreased in both groups (P<0.01). Conclusion The treatment of allergic rhinitis with deviation of nasal septum by low temperature plasma radiofrequency can improve subjective symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal obstruction and nasal itching, reduce the recurrence rate, shorten the clearance time of nasal mucosal cilia and reduce nasal resistance.
