Abstract:Objective To investigate whether Epigallocatechin30gallate (EGCG) can prevent obesity induced by highfat diet in rats. Methods 40 SD male rats were randomly divided into blank control group, model control group, EGCG low dose [30mg/(kg〖DK〗·d)] group, EGCG high dose [60mg/(kg〖DK〗·d)] group. EGCG low dose group, EGCG high dose group were given gavage for 8 weeks. The body weight, body length and liver weight of rats were measured. The triglyceride (TG), lowdensity protein (LDL), highdensity lipoprotein (HDL) and fasting serum insulin (Fins) were detected. Lee′s index and liver index were calculated. HE and Sirius red staining were used to observe the changes of liver tissue structure in rats.〖WTHZ〗Results〖WTBZ〗Compared with blank control group, the weight, Lee′s index, liver index, TG, LDL Fins and other indexes of EGCG drug intervention group decreased (P<0.05), and HDL significantly increased (P<0.05). The results of HE and Sirius red staining showed that compared with model control group, liver injury was significantly reduced in the EGCG intervention group. Conclusion EGCG can reduce the weight of obese rats induced by a highfat diet, improve lipid metabolism disorders and reduce insulin resistance (IR), and have a good preventive effect on obesity in highfat dietinduced rats.
