【Abstract】The prevalence of hypertension is about 53.2%, but the rate of blood pressure control is only 18.2%. Hypertension in the elderly has distinct clinical characteristics, many complications and difficult blood pressure management. Therefore, the hypertension branch of China Geriatric Society and the geriatric cardiovascular disease prevention and control alliance, the national geriatric clinical medicine research center china, formulated and promulgated the first geriatric hypertension prevention and control guideline in China in early 2019, and introduced the main clinical management of geriatric hypertension from the aspects of epidemiology, clinical characteristics, diagnostic evaluation, drug treatment and specific population decompression strategies contents and management suggestions are put forward. In order to better diagnose and manage the elderly patients with hypertension, this paper interprets the diagnosis strategy of the elderly patients, the important content of the elderly hypertension diagnostic evaluation, the elderly hypertension antihypertensive treatment intensity, the principle of drug treatment and blood pressure management.
