Abstract:Herpangina is an acute upper respiratory tract infection caused by enterovirus infection. The main pathogens, transmission routes are similar with handfootmouth disease, but the incidence of herpangina is higher than that of handfootmouth disease. Most clinical processes of herpangina are selflimiting, but a few children can progress to handfootmouth disease, present heart, lung, brain and other organ damage, even to serious to lifethreatening. Due to the high incidence rate and strong contagiousness, the publication of the Consensus of Diagnosis and Treatment of Herpangina (2019 version) issued an early identification of herpangina, regulating the treatment of herpangina, which can not only reduce severe cases caused by herpangina, but also can reduce the occurrence of death.
