Abstract:Objective To investigate the prevalence of stroke in the Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) population in community and provide the basis for the formulation of future intervention strategies. Methods 26,103 residents aged 45 and above with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)in the community of Shunqing, Nanchong were enrolled. The prevalence and associated factors of T2DM with stroke were analyzed. Results There were 70 subjects with T2DM combined with stroke, and 348 with non-T2DM combined with stroke. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.01). Univariate analysis showed that T2DM patients with stroke were associated with age, hypertension, coronary heart disease, family history of stroke, sleep duration, TC. Multivariate logistic analysis showed that family history of stroke, coronary heart disease, and hypertension were independent risk factors for stroke. Among them, the highest risk was coronary heart disease. Conclusion Stroke family history, coronary heart disease and hypertension are independent risk factors for T2DM patients with stroke and coronary heart disease is a key risk factor for T2DM patients with stroke.
