【Abstracts】 Objective To investigate the effect of intervention of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) plus Chinese herb on patients with primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma accompanied portal vein tumor thrombus. Methods 58 primary hepatocellular carcinoma with portal vein tumor thrombus were randomly divided into two groups. 30 Patients were treated with TACE plus traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). 28 Patients were treated with TACE only. Liver function, AFP, TCM symptoms curative effect and tumor size were studied and compared between the two groups. Result The levels of liver function, AFP and tumor sizes were decreased more significantly in the treatment group than those in the control group. The levels of TCM symptoms were increased more significantly than that in the treatment group. Conclusions TACE plus traditional Chinese medicine can improved liver function and TCM symptoms curative effect and tumor size in patients with Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma accompanied portal vein tumor thrombus.
