Abstract:【Abstract】 Objective To evaluate the effects of somatostatin for magligant bowel obstruction. Methods PubMed, CNKI, WANGFANG and Cochrane Library databases were searched to identify randomized controlled trials and quasirandomized controlled trials of somatostatin which contained the conventional therapy with somatostatin versus conventional therapy for malignant bowel obstruction. We made a quality evaluation by Jadad scoring method, and used RevMan 53 statistic software to analyze the data in the articles, and then evaluated the results comprehensively. Results We found that 10 studies (596 patients) met the inclusion criteria .The results of metaanalyses is showed that there was a significant difference between the somatostatin with conventional and conventional in some Clinical symptoms. The abdominal pain relief rate, Anal exhaust defecation relief rate, Abdominal plain film improvement rate, mean gastrointestinal decompression of the study group were significantly higher than that of the control group. The average hospitalization day of study group was shorter than that of the control group. Somatostatin had obvious advantages over conventional treatment in the relief of clinical symptoms in patients with malignant intestinal obstruction. Conclusion Current evidence suggests that somatostatin combined with conventional therapy is superior to the conventional therapy for intestinal obstruction
