Abstract:【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the correlation between periodontal index and blood glucose and blood lipid in elderly diabetic patients. Methods 96 patients with diabetes were divided into diabetic periodontitis group (n= 46) and diabetic group (n= 52). 30 healthy people were selected into control group. Compared the platelet parameters, coagulation blood, blood glucose and blood lipid in each group. The index of periodontal index of diabetic patients was compared with that of blood glucose and blood lipid. Results There was significant difference between the three groups of platelet parameters, blood clotting, blood glucose and blood lipid (P<005). The PLT and MPV of diabetic periodontitis were significantly higher than those in the control group and the diabetic group. PT and FIB were significantly lower than the control group and the diabetic group (P<001). The levels of TC, TG and LDL of diabetic periodontitis were significantly higher than those of diabetes group and control group, and the HDL level was significantly lower than that of diabetic group and control group (P<005). The SBI and AL value of diabetic periodontitis were significantly higher than that of diabetes group (P<001). The index of periodontal index has different degrees of correlation with blood glucose and blood lipid index. Conclusion Periodontitis may increase the risk of microvascular disease by affecting blood glucose and lipid levels in elderly diabetics.
