【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the utilization of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in the hospitals from Xi’an,and to provide reference for rational use of PPIs. Methods The utilization of PPIs in 43 secondary hospitals from Xi’an during 20132015 was statistically analyzed with respects of total consumption sum of PPIs, the proportion of PPIs sum,the consumption sum, DDDs and DDC of each PPIs. Results The total consumption sum and the proportion of PPIs sum increased year by year from 2013 to 2015. And the proportion of PPIs sum was 218%, 250% and 275% respectively. Omeprazole and pantoprazole for injection，oral dosage forms of omeprazole took up the top three in the list of consumption sum,and took up 65% of the consumption sum in the 3 years.Conclusion At present，the consumption sum and amount of PPIs is rapidly increasing. Great importance should be attached to the rational administration and safety use of the PPIs，in order to avoid excess use.
