【Abstract】Objective To observe the shortterm efficacy of proximal fibular osteotomy combined with arthroscopic debridement for the treatment of medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee. Methods 5 patients with medial compartment osteoarthritis of the knee were collected from June to december 2016. There were 2 male and 3 female and aged from 59 to 72 (average 65.8±5.5). All the patients were followed-up and compared the visual analogue scale (visual analogue score, VAS), the hospital for special surgery (hospimlforspecial surgery, HSS) knee score at preoperation and 5d, 4W, 3M and 6 M postoperation respectively. Xray of weightbearing knee joint was taken before and after the operation and the lower extremity changes of the femoral tibial angle were compared at the same time.Results All the 5 patients were followed-up for a period of 4 to 8 months with an average of (5.8 ± 1.6) months. At the end of the follo-up, 4 patients with VAS score from preoperative 7.0±0.8 down to 37±05; HSS score from preoperative (62.5±5.5) increased to (75±73); the lower extremity femoral tibial angle by preoperative (173.69±3.47)°down to (175.03±2.89)°postoperative. Conclusion The proximal fibular osteotomy combined with arthroscopic debridement for the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee is simple, minimally invasive, can reduce pain and improve the function of the knee joint.
