Abstract:【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the effects of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with western medicine artificial tears and comprehensive nursing on xerophthalmia. Methods 120 patients with xerophthalmia were randomly divided into western medicine artificial tears treatment(A group, 37 cases), Chinese medicine fumigation (B group,39 cases), traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with artificial tear therapy (C group, 44 cases). The patients of the three groups were treated with comprehensive nursing. The secretion of tear index, artificial tear frequency, total number of discomfort symptoms and VAS comfort were observed. Results Compared with those before treatment, the tear secretion index, the total number of eye discomfort symptoms and the comfort level of VAS significantly improved in the all three groups (P<0.05). Follow up of 1 month, compared with those of A group, the tear secretion index, the total number of eye discomfort symptoms and the comfort level of VAS of C group were significantly improvement or ameliorate ( P<0.05 ). Compared with those of B group, the total number of eye in the C group uncomfortable symptoms decreased significantly(P<0.05 ), and the two tear fluid index increased significantly(P<0.05 ). The effective rate of the C group (88.63 %) was better than that of B group (74.36%) and A group (62.16 %). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with western medicine artificial tears treatment and comprehensive nursing for xerophthalmia is better than traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.
