【Abstract】 Objective To explore the core competence of elderly nursing of internal medicine teaching nurses and improve the teaching of elderly nursing.Methods 6 hospitals were investigated with Chinese Geriatric Nursing Core Competency Scale. Results The expectation ability and actual ability on core competence of elderly nursing of internal medicine teaching nurses were different (P＜005). In actual ability, the clinical nursing ability was strong and the critical thinking and scientific research ability were weak. In expectation ability, the clinical nursing ability was strong and the legal and ethical quality was weak. Conclusion According the condition of core competence of elderly nursing, teaching and training will improve the clinical and teaching ability.
