【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the value of Procalcitonin (PCT) and Creactive protein (CRP) in early diagnosis and severity of the judgment in children with sepsis. Methods 104 children with infection were treated in our hospital from January 2013 to June 2015. The children with sepsis were divided into sepsis group (63 cases) and nonsepsis group (41 cases), according to the disease. The PCT and CRP were compared in each groups. Results The PCT and CRP in sepsis group were all significantly higher than that in nonsepsis group (P＜005). The PCT and CRP in severe sepsis group were all significantly higher than that in nonsevere sepsis group (P＜005). The PCT and CRP in nonsevere sepsis group were all significantly higher than that in nonsepsis group (P＜005). The area under the curve in PCT was (09 ± 01). The sensitivity was 901%. The specificity was 856%. The diagnostic accuracy was 839%. The area under the curve in CRP was (07 ± 01), the sensitivity was 798%, the specificity was 699% and the diagnostic accuracy was 705%, the differences of area under the curve, sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy between PCT and CRP were statistically significant( all P＜005) Conclusion In the early diagnosis of children sepsis, compared with CRP, PCT has higher sensitivity and specificity. In terms of judging the severity of sepsis, PCT and CRP has the equal clinical value
