Abstract:【Abstract】 Objective To assess the permeability and biodistribution of Gadoliniumdiethylenetriaminepentaacetic (GdDTPA) in rabbits eyes with contrast enhanced MRI after GdDTPA injection in ear vein. Methods GdDTPA was injected into rabbits through auricular vein (05 mol/L, 02 ml/kg). Enhanced MRI was performed to both eyes once 10 minutes in 1 hour, and once 15 minutes 1 hour later. The signal enhanced ratios (SER) of anterior chamber, ciliary body and the posterior chamber were measured. The SERtotime curves was used to assess the permeability and distribution of the contrast agent. Results The SER in ciliary body increased dramatically and reached peaks at 15 minutes after injection. The signal enhanced ratios (SER) was 109±0058, followed by a slow decline. The SER in anterior chamber rose up a bit slowly to peaks at about 5060 minutes after injection. The signal enhanced ratios(SER) was 069±0046. The signal enhancement was not observed in posterior chamber. Conclusion GdDTPA does not go into posterior chamber of the eye and go into anterior chamber via ciliary body and iris root. The permeability and distribution of GdDTPA in vivo can be quantitatively analyzed by MRI.
