Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of need gratification intervention on the mental state of patients after day surgery for lower extremity varicose veins.Methods According to the order of admission,115 patients with lower extremity varicose veins underwent day surgery were divided into the control group and observation group.The control group was given routine nursing intervention.On this basis,the observation group was additionally given need gratification intervention.The status of need gratification,scores of self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)and self-rating depression scale(SDS)before operation and on discharge(after operation),mastery of knowledge about disease on discharge and satisfaction were compared between the two groups.Results There were significant differences in need gratification of mental state,comfort,acquisition of support and communication between the two groups(P<0.05).There were significant differences in SDS and SAS scores of the observation group on discharge(after operation)(P<0.05).The postoperative SDS and SAS scores of the observation group[(30.3±6.5)and(34.2±5.8)]were significantly lower than those of the control group[(40.5±6.3),(41.6±6.2)](P<0.05).On discharge,the mastery rate of knowledge about the disease and total satisfaction rate in the observation group(93.3%,96.7%)were significantly higher than those in the control group(80.0%,85.5%)(P<0.05).Conclusion According the needs of patients,to adopt corresponding measures to satisfy their mental needs and needs of controlling complications can significantly relieve anxiety and depression,improve the mastery of knowledge about lower extremity varicose veins and satisfaction
