Abstract:Objective To investigate the situation of nurses' burden and burnout of Alzheimer patients and make accurate nursing strategy for better service.Methods 60 nurses for Alzheimer patients from 10 hospitals in Sichuan and Guizhou province were investigated for demographic composition, nursing burden and burnout level including emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduced personal accomplishment. Zarit and Maslach questionnaire were used to measure job burden and burnout degree. The correlation between different indicators were analyzed.Results 73.3% of nurses had mild to moderate burden. 21.7% had moderate to severe. 1.7% had severe burden and 3.3% no burden felt. 25.0%of the nursing staff were with high level of emotional exhaustion. 30.0%were with depersonalization. 26.7% were with reduced personal achievement. The married nurses had higher emotional exhaustion and depersonalization than unmarried (P<0.05). The senior nurses had higher depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment than junior (P<0.05). The nurses with over4 years' experience felt higher emotional exhaustion (P<0.05). The nurses raising child are easier to feel depersonalization than no kids(P<0.05). The nurses with high educated felt heavier burden, higher emotional exhaustion and depersonalization than low educated(P<0.05).Conclusion Nurses for Alzheimer patients felt heavy burden and burnout. The administrators should pay attention to the nurses, accurate strategy should be made to motivate nurses work, reduce burden, rotate job, increase youth low educated without child and keep work freshness and enthusiasm.
