Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of Zheng's acupoint massage combined with Kinesiology tape therapy on Haglund syndrome. Methods 48 patients of Haglund syndrome, aged 18.45 years, median 27.5 years; 29 cases of single foot (11 cases of left foot, 18 cases of right foot); 19 cases of both feet were randomly divided into Research group and observation group. Two groups of patients were treated with Zheng's acupoint massage. The Research group was supplemented with Kinesiology tape. After 4 courses of treatment, pain, function and autonomous movement, support, maximum walking distance, ground walking, abnormal gait, forefoot movement (flexion and extension), hind foot movement (inversion and valgus) were observed. The ankle foot and hind foot stability were assessed with reference to the AOFAS ankle foot score system. Results There was no significant difference between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). After 4 courses of treatment, according to the AOFAS anklehind foot scoring system, the foot function score of the Research group was significantly improved compared with the observation group (75.23±8.71vs87.43±7.64), (P<0.01). No adverse events and complications occurred in the 2 groups during treatment. All cases were followed up for 2 to 6 months. The symptoms of 3 cases in the Research group and 4 cases in the observation group were relapsed due to high intensity exercise. The symptoms of the patients in the treatment group were improved after physical therapy. The rest of the patients had no symptoms aggravation or recurrence. Conclusion Zheng's acupoint massage combined with Kinesiology tape can obviously relieve local symptoms and improve foot function, avoid early surgical treatment, and it is simple, safe and applicable. It is worth popularizing and applying in clinic or in basketball, volleyball, football and other highrisk sports.
