Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of Shenkang pill on oxidative stress and inflammatory response in rats with chronic intermittent hypoxiainduced renal injury. Methods The rat model of chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) was established by intermittent hypoxia/reoxygenation animal compartment. CIH rats were randomly and evenly divided into model group (10 rats) and Shenkang pill group (10 rats), and the rats with normal growth conditions were included in normal group (10 rats). Levels of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in SD rats were detected by ELISA kit. The renalbody weight ratios of three groups were compared by renal weighting method. Renal tissue changes were observed by HE staining pathological section. qPCR was used to detect the genes expression levels of renal tissue hypoxiainducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), Gu/ZnSOD and MnSOD. Levels of rats serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factorα (TNFα) were detected by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay. Results There was no significant difference in renalbody weight ratio among the groups (P>0.05). The serum SOD level in model group was lower than that in normal group while the levels of MDA, IL-6 and TNFαwere significantly higher than those in normal group (P<0.05), and the kidneys of model group showed mesangial membrane and basement membrane hyperplasia. Compared with model group, the levels of serum SOD, MDA, IL-6 and TNFα in Shenkang pill group were significantly decreased (P<0.05), and the expression level of HIF-1α gene was decreased while the expression levels of Gu/ZnSOD and MnSOD genes were increased (P<0.05). Conclusion Shenkang pill can reduce the oxidative stress and inflammatory response of rats with CIHinduced renal injury.
