Abstract:【Abstract】 Objective To investigate the expression of forkhead box O3a (FOXO3a) in epithelial ovarian cancer and its correlation with clinicopathological features. Methods 87 cases of epithelial ovarian cancer admitted to our hospital from January 2014 to June 2017 were selected and divided into benign group (n=47) and malignant group (n=40), according to different pathological types. Another 45 normal ovarian epithelial tissues were set as normal control group. The mRNA expression levels of FOXO3a and Bim in three groups were analyzed by realtime PCR. The immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of FOXO3a protein, Bim protein, and pAKT protein. Results The FOXO3a expression level of three groups had no difference (P>0.05). The difference was found in the Bim mRNA expression level, which was decreased with the increase of the malignancy grade (P<0.05). The expression levels of FOXO3a and Bim in pAKT protein among three groups in a descending order was normal control group, benign group and malignant group (P<0.05). The expression level of pAKT protein in the three groups in an ascending order was normal control group, benign group and malignant group (P<0.05). The FOXO3a expression level was not associated with age, FIGO stage, histological type, lymph node metastasis (P>0.05), while was related to the differentiation degree of the tissues (P<0.05). The expression of FOXO3a was negatively correlated with the Bim protein (r=0.481, χ2=10.418, P<0.05), and was positively correlated with pAKT protein (r=0.737, χ2=24.419, P<0.05). Conclusion The expression of FOXO3a in epithelial ovarian cancer is related to the grade malignancy, and its reactivation is expected to a targeted therapy.
