Abstract:【Abstract】 Objective To analyze effect of peer education which was combined with WeChat groups in patients with type 2 diabetes and explore the impact of the new peer education model on patient selfmanagement effectiveness and quality of life.Methods 142 patients with T2DM were Chosen and divided them into the control group and test group according to random numbers table. The 71 patients in the control group received routine health education, while The 71 patients in the test group received not only the routine health education but also a WeChatgroups peer education program. The patients were investigated with Diabetes SelfManagement Scale (DSMS),Diabetes Management SelfEfficacy Scale (DMSES)and Chinese Normal Audit of DiabetesDependent Quality of Life(CNADDQOL)for T2DM patients before and after the intervention.Results In the end, there were 66 patients in test group completed the study. The number of the control group was 65. General information on both groups of patients, DSMS, DMSES, and CNADDQOL were the same at baseline, and the difference was not statistically significant (P>005). After a threemonth intervention through a joint WeChat groups of peer education, the scores of DSMS (7325±761), DMSES (6967±764) and CNADDQOL (2903±1479) in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<001).Conclusion The Combination of WeChat groups and peer education program is an effective intervention, which can increase patient confidence in managing disease and effectively improve the patient selfmanagement behavior, improving the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes.
