Abstract:【Abstract】 Objective To determine the impact of family nursing on pain, performance status and quality of life (QOL) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods 42 patients diagnosed with advanced HCC, were enrolled in the study and randomly assigned to control group or experimental group. Control group patients received the cancer pain threestep analgesic ladder recommended by WHO. Experimental group patients received pain control plus three family nursing. The nursing care was guided by an evidencebased protocol developed by the research team. Data were collected on pain, performance status and QOL. Results The pain and performance status of patients in experiment group were better than patients in control group after the final family nursing (P<005). The quality of life were 1137±219 in the experimental group and 976±281 in the control group. There is a significant decrease in quality of life in the control group. Conclusion Family nursing could reduce symptoms and improve quality of life for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma.
