Abstract:【Abstract】 Intertrochanteric fractures are common in elderly patients which can decrease the quality of life and increase the mortality significantly for the longterm bedridden. The internal fixation is beneficial to the early ambulation and weight bearing of the patients, which can effectively reduce the incidence of coxa adducta and the complications caused by longterm bedridden. The commonly used surgical methods are intramedullary fixation and extramedullary fixation, and the operation choices are different due to the fracture types. In this paper, we reviewed the existing methods of internal fixation, analyzed and discussed their advantages and disadvantages and indications in order to provide some guidance and reference for the operation choices of intertrochanteric fractures.
