Abstract:【Abstract】 Objectives To explore the relief of signs and symptoms and improvement of satisfaction in the patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy with traditional Chinese medicine liquid external application combined with wax therapy. Methods 94 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy were randomly divided into the control group (n=33), wax therapy group (n=31) and traditional Chinese medicine liquid external application combined with wax therapy group(n=30). Patients in the control group were received only normal routine therapy and nursing methods for diabetic peripheral neuropathy, patients in the wax therapy group were given additional wax therapy as well as the normal routine therapy, and patients in the traditional Chinese medicine liquid external application combined with wax therapy group were given the traditional Chinese medicine liquid external application combined with wax therapy and the normal routine therapy. The effects of these three regimens in each group were evaluated before and after the 4week intervention with TCSS, MNSI and satisfaction dimension of DMQS. Results Among the three groups, the differences of TCSS, MNSI and satisfaction dimension of DMQS were statistically significant before and after the intervention (P<0.05). Within the same group, the differences of TCSS, MNSI and satisfaction dimension of DMQS in each group were statistically significant before and after the intervention (P<0.05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine liquid external application combined with wax therapy was effective and helpful in relieving signs and symptoms and improving satisfaction in the patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
